120-voice Elgin (IL) Choral Union presents Rachmaninoff's "Vespers"

The Elgin Choral Union, under the direction of Andrew Lewis, will present two performances of Rachmaninoff's a cappella "Vespers" ("All-Night Vigil") at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23 at Elgin Community College's Blizzard Theatre, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL; and at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25 at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Cedar Avenue, St. Charles, IL.  Tickets are $23 adults, $18 seniors, $15 students, and $5 children ages 10 and younger with paid adult, and are available at 847.622.0300 or at elgin.edu/arts.  
 
A pre-concert discussion led by ECU member JoAnne Dowdell will be held 45 minutes before the performance.  Opening the evening will be a presentation by Golosa, the University of Chicago's Russian mixed-voice a cappella ensemble, which will perform sacred and secular folk songs.
