Friede auf Erden in Durham NC

The 32-voice Vocal Arts Ensemble of Durham (NC) will perform a concert entitled "A Time of Peace" on Sunday, June 13, at 7 pm in Duke University Chapel. The concert features a performance of Schoenberg's "Friede auf Erden," Mendelssohn's "Verleih uns Frieden," and Robert Dickow's "Peace," as well as poetry by Gerard Manley Hopkins in settings by Gwyneth Walker and Duke music graduate student Paul Leary (a commissioned premiere of Hopkins' poem "Henry Purcell"). The concert also includes music by Bach, Brahms, Praetorius, and Purcell. Rodney Wynkoop conducts.
