Children's choirDate: June 8, 2010
Hi there all
I am a South African who love choral music so much as a vehicle to bring music knowldge to children, especially those who cannot attend or get their music lesson in places like consevertoire.
My friend and I are in the process of starting childrens choir. We need ideas from those of you who once got involved with this. or just business ideas on how to run a succeful choir. tell us about other materials to read out there. also if there are children's choir associations and societied. we want to create relationships.

Thank you for your work with children. Please join our Facebook online group - Children's Choir Conductor's Forum. There are many in that group who may be able to offer advice. Also, the American Choral Directors Association website (acda.org), go to Repertoire at the top of the page and then Children's and Community Youth along the left side of the page. There, you will find some information and much information from a conductors' retreat we held in January this year. Additionally, be watching Choralnet. You will see occassionally that new "communities" have been announced. Those will be up and running very soon. It will be a wonderful opportunity to ask specific questions, share, get resources and more. I hope you will join us in all three areas.

I'm not sure if I'm giving the right response, but my church has several childrens choir's in their ministries. I also noticed you'd like to strike up new relations with others involved in children's choirs. If you are interested in contacting those involved with the minitries in children's choir's at my church, get in touch, I'll see what I can do.
