Open Sings in Minnesota - Fauré Vivaldi Mozart BrahmsDate: June 9, 2010 Views: 2625 Location: Minnesota, USA
Please join us this July for our 6th annual Festival of Open Sings! We're getting together to sing some wonderful music. It's free and open to all. We ask for donations, but they're completely voluntary. Pass this word along, and invite your friends!
At Open Sings, singers and orchestra gather at 7pm for a 45-minute rehearsal, then we break for some delicious refreshments. Finally, everyone returns to the sanctuary and we play it straight through without stopping. It's not so much a performance as it is a chance to do some really great music together. Come to any evenings you can make it.
Here's this year's schedule (always Wednesdays at 7pm):
July 7 - Fauré Requiem - to benefit Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity
July 14 - Vivaldi Gloria - to benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness
July 21 - Mozart Requiem - to benefit Emergency Foodshelf Network
July 28 - Brahms A German Requiem - to benefit City House
If you'd like to make a donation, every dime goes to the charity of the evening.
This all takes place at Church of the Epiphany, 4900 Nathan Lane N, Plymouth [map] — just west of US-169 at the 49th Avenue N exit.
High school and college students, adults, amateurs, professionals — all kinds of people enjoy these Open Sings. Many of the musicians will have done these pieces before, but many will be doing them for the first time. All are welcome, and everyone has a wonderful time.
