Brahms Requiem rehearsal problemsDate: June 10, 2010
I have been asked to do a Brahms requiem choral workshop for 10 days in Asia with university music students.
Which rehearsal tapes/cds would you recommend? Any suggestions of rehearsal techniques?

You might try the Berkshire Choral Festival, 245 Undermountain Road, Sheffield, MA 01257, USA. They have a large selection of the most often performed choral works, either on CD or on cassette, that have each part emphasized on separate recordings. Their email is BCF(a)choralfest.org and their web site is www.choralfest.org

There is a great video of Robert Shaw rehearsing the Brahms Requiem -- I think it was available somehow from the Berkshire Music Festival. VERY HELPFUL!

The video of Shaw rehearsing the Requiem paired with him rehearsing Beethoven's Missa Solemnis can be found at www.singers.com for 24.95.

Personally, I have found the rehearsal CDs from Noteperfect to be very good: www.noteperfect.net. They are not terribly expensive, and they are easily downloadable.
