Event Date: July 5, 2010-July 16, 2010
Posted: June 11, 2010
Location: New York, USA
Choir type: Children's and Youth Choirs
There are still a few spaces left in the Cappella Festiva Summer Choral Festival for Treble Voices ages 8-18! Presented in Skinner Hall of Music at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, the Festival is designed to uniquely educate and enrich motivated young singers by providing opportunity for study and singing of diverse treble choral repertoire under the leadership of experienced teachers. In this safe, enriching, and non-competitive environment, peers of varied ages collaborate as well as encourage and mentor. Susan Bialek and Christine R. Howlett are co-directors of this program, in its fifth year.
The Summer Choral Festival offers two, age-appropriate programs:
This is an exciting opportunity for treble singers to work at an accelerated pace on intermediate/advanced treble choral repertoire, as well as to attend classes in music theory, sight reading, and vocal skills. Auxiliary sessions in yoga, dance, swimming, fitness and crafts augment each day. An important element of the Cappella Festiva Treble Choir mission, the fostering of peer leadership and mentorship, will also be explored as these seasoned singers welcome their younger counterparts to week 2!
Cor Capriccio: is a treble singing experience geared for singers age 8-11! July 12-16. 9:00am-4:30pm
For one week, these younger singers join the choral festival for their own energetic choral rehearsals, basic theory and sight reading! Swimming, yoga, crafts and outdoor games augment the daily schedule. Work and sing alongside our more experienced Cor Cantabile singers toward collaboration in our final concert on the last day!
