26 Italian Songs and Arias Rebooted: Returning to their organic roots
For Advanced singers (High School through Adult)
Selected participants will receive comprehensive coaching on Italian Diction, Baroque Ornamentation, and Baroque Styling from noted experts in Early Music. Two days of coaching will culminate in opportunities for public performance with professionals on historically authentic instruments (lute, theorbo, harpsichord) in a Friday evening concert. This workshop is of particular interest to those who will be auditioning for Collegiate Scholarships, competitions, or general auditions for productions of Baroque Oratorio or Opera. Any singers who have particular interest in this style and repertoire are also very welcome
Faculty:
Jay Carter, countertenor
Sara Tannehill, soprano
Dr. Jeffrey Noonan, lute/theorbo
Charles Metz, harpsichord
Workshop participants will select and prepare 2 pieces from 26 Italian Songs and Arias. These pieces will be studied, explored, and thoroughly coached. Each participant receives several coachings with the Faculty and there is the possibility of performing them in a Friday evening concert.
