The Astoria Symphonic Choir works in collaboration with the Astoria Symphony Orchestra to provide world class choral music experiences to singers and audiences in the community of Astoria, Queens, in New York City.
The choir was established in 2010 to perform major choral works with the Astoria Symphony. Past seasons have included works by Handel, Haydn, Lauridsen, Mozart, and Vivaldi, as well as world premiers by living composers. In November of 2011, by invitation from Mayor Bloomberg's office, the choir sang at the 10th Anniversary Memorial Service for Flight 587. The 2012-13 season promises continued partnership with the orchestra and will include works by Brahms, Beethoven, Britten, Persichetti, and more. Singers with varying levels of experience, and from all walks of life, are welcomed to audition for this community-based choir.
