OCDA Board Meeting
January 13, 2006 Members Present: JoAnn Struck, Brent Ballweg, Carolyn Dougherty, Beth Berkenbile, Darla Eshelman, Stacy Weger, Justin Ediger, Bill King, Jan Smith, Jan Hulsey, Stephania Abell, Marjoleine Gravely, Steve Curtis, Linda Pollock, Bill Green and Ramona Cummings. Jo Ann Struck opened the meeting at 10 am in room 12 of the Cox Center. The minutes and Treasurer’s report were both approved. The spring board meeting will be held at the ACDA National Office on Saturday, April 22, 2006, at 10 am. Ballots will be mailed out in mid-February so that the new representatives can be elected and notified of their new duties. Topics for the round table discussions, which are held during the summer convention, need to be turned in by April 1, 2006. John Gerber will be taking over as the editor of the Sooner Style and Brent will continue with the OCDA website. The summer convention will be held at OU and the banquet entertainment will be provided be Mark Reighard. The dates of the convention will be July 16-18, 2006. Convention Headliner – Sigrid Johnson Conductor’s chorus College General Session Church – Charla Parker – Big Things Come Wrapped in Small Packages/The Small Church Choir Elementary – Leslee Howze Secondary/Church – M.J. Milford - Scalesthenics 45 minute reading sessions will be provided for Elementary, HS, JH/MS, College and Church. Pender’s will provide the music and the deadline is May 1, 2006. All-Collegiate Choir organized by Stacy Weger will be Aril 7-8, 2006, in Norman at the McFarland United Methodist Church. Deadline for entry is Feb. 1, 2006. The cost is $100.00 per quartet. Accompanist will cost $700.00 and Ken Fulton (guest conductor) will receive $1500.00. The rental of the church will be $125.00 and there will also be postage and the cost of a horn player. The concert will being at 3:30 pm on April 8, 2006. Audition and acceptance deadlines will be discussed and set by the executive committee. The following people will be the director’s for the JH All-OCDA Chorus: 2007 Kevin Fenton 2008 Carolyn Winkler 2009 Charles Robinson (10 yr, anniversary) The Women’s Chorus will have Bill Perring as the chairman and a clinician has not yet been decided upon. The head of the Jazz Chorus will be Ruiel Doonkeen and Greg Jaspers will be the clinician for 2007. Doug Woolery will be the chair for 2008. All articles for the Sooner Style are to be turned into Brent by April 1, 2006. An elementary choral festival is in the works for 2007. Jan Hulsey thanked Bill King for taking care of the mechanical license fee for the choirs. The meeting adjourned at 11:15 am. Respectfully submitted, Ramona Cummings OCDA Annual Winter Meeting January 13, 2006 The meeting in the Cox Center was called to order by President, JoAnn Struck at 2:00 p.m.. Each of the choir chairpersons gave reports: Jazz Chorus – Justin Ediger The new chair for the jazz will be Ruel Doonkeen. He will hold this position for two years. The clinician for 2007 will be Greg Jaspers. JH Chorus – Stephania Abell The new chair will be Marjoleine Gravely. The clinician for 2007 will be Kevin Fenton from Florida State University. Women’s Chorus – Carolyn Daugherty The new chair will be Bill Perring. The clinician is still undecided at this time. Auditions for the 2007 choirs will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at FBC in Moore. The All-OCDA Festival is scheduled for Jan. 11-13, 2007. The All-Collegiate Choir will be held April 7-8, 2006 at the McFarland Methodist Church in Norman. Dr. Ken Fulton will be the clinician. The summer convention will be July 16-18, 2006, at the University of Oklahoma. The OCDA Luncheon at OMEA will be Fri., Jan.20th, in the DoubleTree Hotel. The meeting adjourned at 2:30 pm.
