The winter meeting will be Friday, January 11, 2008 in the Cox Convention Center at 10:00 a.m. The spring meeting will be Saturday, March 29, 2008 in the First Christian Church of Norman. Ramona Cummings gave a treasurer’s report. We have $19,018.48 as of this meeting with more to come. Ramona informed us that if an expenditure is $1,000.00 or more it must be sent to ACDA and then will come back. John Gerber said our fall deadline for Sooner Style pushed the time limit closely. JoAnn Struck suggested the fall deadline be moved to the summer convention. November 15, 2007 is the deadline for the winter edition of the Sooner Style. The 2008 All-OCDA Festival auditions will be Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Mustang. JoAnn Struck and Charla Dedmon will fill in for Brent Ballweg at the January Festival. The coordinators will have comp. rooms. The Festival Schedule will be posted on the website ASAP. Brent Ballweg will check on the programs for the event. We discussed posting the audition cuts the day of the auditions. Doug Woolery moved that we post the cuts at the registration table so the students could have their music marked before entering the listening room. Bill Perring seconded the motion and it carried. The Jazz choir has 57 schools participating. There are 452 auditioning for the jazz choir. There are 2015 students from 165 schools signed to audition for the All-OCDA Junior High Choir. Changing prelim room procedure for soprano and alto must be tabled until spring for final rulings; however, the soprano II’s will have three prelim rooms and will be assigned another audition time for the final audition if they receive a green card. The other treble voices will go directly to the final audition from the prelim room if a green card is given. Gay Lynn Allen came and discussed the issue of students making both All-OCDA Junior High and All-State Children’s Choirs. Though this decision should be up to the teacher, parent, and student, we agreed to enclose a statement of consideration involving the amount of time missed from school and the amount of music to be learned. Glenda Casey will be the 2009 clinician for the Women’s Chorus. The Second Annual Elementary Festival is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2008. The cost will be $2.00 per singer. The clinician will be Cristi Miller, and the concert will be at 4:00 p.m. Instead of an OCDA luncheon at OMEA convention, it was decided to host a reception after the Thursday Evening Concert. Brent Ballweg presented the following clinicians and topics for the summer convention: William and Rosephanye Powell (2 ½ days Conductors chorus-ethnic music College reading session-William Voice care concerns for choir (directors and singers)-Rosephanye Mary Jane Phillips Boys’ changing voices Recruiting in the Middle School Sight Reading games Ken Rosfeld Microphone techniques with your choirs Choir recording methods Joshua Oppenhiem Interactive sight singing program Group power-point presentation followed by individual work/tutoring in the computer lab. The dates for the 2008 Summer Convention are July 13, 14, and 15. We will strive to use lesser known publishers for the reading sessions. Jon and Mark will work on the church session. It was agreed to ask “THE 3 DIVAS” to entertain at the banquet. Constitution revisions are needed to conform to ACDA Constitution and Bylaws. R & S people are appointed not elected. They serve 2 year terms which are renewable for 2 more years with a maximum of two concurrent terms (4 years). Coordinators would not necessarily be the R & S reps. Wes Singleton moved that we instate R & S Chairs based on the areas needed by constitution revision. Doug Woolery seconded the motion and it carried. The regional reps as elected by state membership will keep their same cycle. Splitting the Secretary-Treasurer position, webmaster, and other constitution revisions will be presented by the revision committee of Charla Dedmon, Brent Ballweg, Mark Powell, Barbara Myers, and Stacy Weger. CVent-Internet Event management ($2500.00) was discussed, but not committed. The Festival CD production was also discussed and tabled until January. The contracts…W-9’s… are to go to Brent Ballweg then to Ramona Cummings Charla Dedmon moved to adjourn and JoAnn Struck seconded-motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Barbara Myers |
