OCDA Board Meeting
January 11, 2008 Cox Convention Center, OkC The metting was called to order by Past President, JoAnn Struck. The following members were president: John Gerber Ramona Cummings JoAnn Struck Susann McDaniel Marjoleine Gravley Tracy Watson Wes Singleton Charla Dedmon Mark Powell Darla Eshelman Randa Mitchell Doug Woolery Ruiel Doonkeen Kelly Martin Barbara Myers Mark Powell moved to accept the October 18th, 2007 board mintes. Charla Dedmon seconded the motion. Motion carried. Our next meeting will be March 29, 2008, 12:30 p.m. at the 1st Christian Church in Norman. The summer meeting will be July 13, 2008, 3:00 p.m. at SNU & following the convention. Ramona Cummings reported that we have $59,319.12 in the treasure. After the concert the figure will change to $28,1069.12. John Gerber said that he will send out cards before the next deadline for Sooner Style. Marjoleine Gravley, Junior High Choir Coordinato and Ruiel Doonkeen, Jazz Coordinator; reported the choirs are doing well. Clinicians are happy with the students and their preparations. Next year the Junior High director will be Charles Robinson. Next year the treble voices for the junior high choir auditions will have their first round at the same sites as the high school quads. The scheduling and site-chairs as well as facilities have been researched and given an affirmative to OCDA working with OMEA on same locations with our own site-chairs and judges. This will allow a reasonable length day for OCDA auditions in November. Charla Dedmon moved that we act on this change and Mark Powell seconded the motion. Motion carried. Further discussion of the results of the OCDA/OMEA joint meeting concerning the Women's Choir and/or Jazz Choir moving to OMEA and the possibility of a Junior High Treble Choir will take place at a membersip meeting in July at the convention. Tracy Watson moved that we separate the jazz rehearsal CD from the concert choirs CD's in their production. The motion was seconded by Ruiel Doonkeen. Motion carried. Charla reported the NW candidates were Barbara Myers and a second person has not been secured. The SE candidates are Debra Clements and Darin Chapin. Bio's and pictures need to be in by February 1st. JoAnn Struck will call Brent about the clinicans, contracts, coordinators, and W-9's. Final proofing and schedule for the Summer Convention will be done at the Spring Board Meeting. Constitutional revisions and R & S chairs will be discussed and/or voted upon at the Spring Meeting. Darla Eshelman reported on the Children's Festival. Cristi Miller will be the clinician.
