Looking for a domestic tour destination to rival the finest treble festivals anywhere? Welcome to the Pacific International Children’s Choir Festival (PICCFEST).
Thirteen years of extraordinary guest conductors, fabulous performances, and a roster of 100+ participating choirs has garnered the praise of singers, their conductors and tour chaperones who call it “life-changing” and “the most amazing week of my life so far.”
Applications are being accepted now for the PICCFEST 2011, June 21-27, in Eugene Oregon, located in the breathtaking southern Willamette Valley. The festival takes place on and around the beautiful University of Oregon campus and Eugene’s Hult Center for the Performing Arts, home of the world-renowned Oregon Bach Festival.
Guest conductor Sandra Snow will lead the combined Festival Chorus and workshops with each individual choir. The combination of PICCFEST and the Oregon Bach Festival creates this one-of-a-kind event filled with inspiring rehearsals, at least two performances by each participating choir, performances of the combined Festival Chorus, and a welcoming environment that leaves participants asking, “When can we come back?!”
Guest conductors agree:
Henry Leck states “PICCFEST is a treasure among treble choir festivals with its wonderfully non-competitive atmosphere, its rich collaboration with the renowned Oregon Bach festival, and the way it puts young singers and their experience first.”
Bob Chilcott adds, “PICCFEST is a premium choir festival! The music is exciting, the schedule is rich with opportunities for artistic growth and building friendships, and Eugene is a lovely setting. Bravo!”
Sandra Snow says, “PICCFEST has established a standard of excellence in every aspect of festival presentation. While aspiring to high artistic standards, it’s clear the philosophy of this organization uplifts the individual experiences of the singers. It is always a pleasure to return to PICCFEST, a place I know has the right priorities for all participants.”
