Arvada Chorale Appoints New Director!Date: August 5, 2010 Location: Colorado, USA Choir type: Community Choirs Voicing: Mixed
The Arvada Chorale Company is pleased to announce the selection of Sarah Deveau as Artistic Director beginning with the Fall, 2010 season.
Ms. Deveau has been conducting choirs for 15 years. Currently she is the Music Director at First Unitarian Society of Denver and is working toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting at CU Boulder. At CU she has conducted the University Women’s Chorus and served as assistant conductor for the University Singers, and she currently teaches undergraduate choral conducting. Before moving to Colorado, Sarah completed a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting at Boston University. Sarah is also active as a singer and voice teacher and has participated in a variety of excellent choral groups, including the Colorado Conductors’ Chorus and Boston’s Coro Allegro.
The Arvada Chorale is a community chorus which has been in existence for almost 35 years, first as a part of the Arvada Center, and currently as a 501(c)(3) Corporation. The Chorale retains its strong ties to the Arvada Center, and will be performing at least three concerts at that venue during the 2010-2011 season.
Ms. Deveau is thrilled to be working with such a great and dedicated group of singers: “This is going to be an incredible season. We'll be performing the Mozart Requiem and John Rutter's Gloria, and we're starting the season off with spirituals - some of the best loved and most exciting choral music there is.”
Auditions for the coming season will be held by Ms. Deveau on Sunday, August 22 and Monday, August 23. The Chorale is particularly looking for qualified singers in the Tenor and Bass ranges. Please contact Bev at 303-250-7202 to schedule an audition time.
