HERITAGE show choir in NJ goes brokeDate: August 8, 2010
Board members and executive director Donavon Soumas said last week that the H.E.R.I.T.A.G.E. (Helping to Enhance Resources by Incorporating The Arts to Gain Education) Show Choir suspended operations a little more than a month ago due to funding shortages. The nonprofit foundation of the same name, through which the choir is managed, remains active as officials mull ideas about how to reel in enough monetary support to mount a comeback.
The choir took top honors at the McDonald's Gospelfest, the nation's largest gospel music competition, in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
