Choir HandbookDate: August 13, 2010
Hello All!
As we approach the new school year I am putting together a Choir Handbook for my students in various ensembles etc. Although I know some of the things I want in it I would love if some of you could share examples of your own. Please send replies to arternst(a)gmail.com
Thanks in advance!!

Art,
You would be welcomed to go to my website and see my handbook. I've copied the link into this reply. Let me know if you have any problems opening it.

I have one for my high school and middle school kids. I will send it to your e-mail.

My first page was a table of contents. I included a letter from me to the students, a letter to the students from my assistant, a letter to the parents, Junior High calendar for the entire school year, High School calendar for the entire year, class rules and general information, performance requirements, Junior High grading procedure, High School grading procedure, accumulative grading scale (how they were graded daily), show choir information form, Junior High uniform information, and High School uniform information. At the bottom of the grading procedure page I included a portion that was to be returned. It stated: " Please read this letter and handbook explaining the choir class and its activities. It is necessary that we have this part of the letter with the parent and student's signatures returned by October 18, 2010. Thank you."
Although it took time to do, I used a spiral to bind this in a booklet and handed it out in class and we went over it pointing out the important information to know immediately. With computers in nearly every home, if I weren't retired, I might put this online now.

Hi Art,
I developed my first handbook this year. If you go to http://www.gateschili.org/webpages/murphy/chorus.cfm?subpage=44711 you can find my documents. My copy person stapled the contract to the inside middle of the book. This way the parents keep the handbook, and I have the contract. Plus, keeping a copy of the documents on the website allows parents to refer to it in the event they lose the handbook.
I would be interested in seeing your final product.
