I would recommend Patrick Freer from Georgia State University. Knowledgeable (written a wonderful book on the Middle School Choir), energetic, fun, and a very gifted conductor.

I heartily endorse Dr. Bowers (she was the All-State Senior Choir director for my son's senior year group - 125 kids), I would also suggest Mrs. Elaine Stanford from the Fairfax County Public Schools.  She has a range of experience over 2 decades, and after "retiring" from FCPS a couple of years ago, she's taking on the job of being the choral director at a brand-new high school in Leesburg, VA.  Don't know that this is still her e-mail (I doubt it) but it was MPStanford(a)fcps.edu.  She's also a darn nice person!

I would recommend Dr. Lynne Gackle (Baylor) or Dr. Sandra Snow (Michigan State). I have seen both with kids this age at Texas CDA summer conventions and they are both FABULOUS with kids that age!

MAry Jane Phillips

You've received lots of great suggestions already, but let me add a couple more to the mix.  We just had Patrick Freer from Georgia State conduct our middle school honor choir at DC Voices United, the DC-MD-VA-DE ACDA summer conference.  He did a great job and the kids really enjoyed working with him.  Philip Silvey, who's at Eastman this year, would also be an excellent choice.  He's a gifted conductor, composer and singer and has a great deal of experience working with young singers.

Pamela Simpson - she is amazing - not so well known as the above mentioned folks - and is the music supervisor for Bronxville, NY.
or
Dr. Susan Glass - NYU prof., teacher, Kodaly levels teacher at NYU
or
Dr. Georgia Newlin - head of music ed. at Adelphi, past president of OAKE

I've seen all of them work with choirs of the age you mentioned - amazing

I would recommend Joy Hirokawa from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.    Jr. High students respond very enthusiastically to her!  She is outstanding.

I would also recommend Eileen Hower from Bloomsburg University.  She is excellent!

I would like to add a couple of wonderful folks to this list. I woul say the important aspect of  a great guest conductor is their ability to inspire during the rehearsals. The rehearsals need to be fun filled, enlightening, and energized. If the rehearsal are inspiring the performances will be.
Diana Spradling-Western Mich.U.
Dr. Steve Widenhofer 0 Millikin Uni. Millikin U.
Both of these choral music educators are exemplary conductors and they are inspirational leaders.
Cheers,
Frank

He's not on the east coast, but I would recommend Mark A. Babcock at Central College in Pella, IA.  He has worked with the Iowa Youth Choruses and is extremely dynamic in addition to being a fine musician.
