Sacred Love and Mystery
Musical Director - Wayne Glass
3pm, Sunday 29 August 2010
St. Scholastica's Chapel, 4 Avenue Rd, Glebe NSW
For centuries, humankind has searched for its place in the universe, seeking guidance from spiritual and mystical sources. Music has often played an important role in this journey, from a simple means of declamation to a magnificent illumination of sacred text. Through works by Palestrina, Britten, Salamone Rossi, the contemporary American composer Frank Ferko and others, we offer a glimpse at the ways composers have taken the ideas of sacred love, devotion and mystery, and used music to enhance the individual journey.
