COMPOSING THE WORLD WE LONG TO LIVE IN
Composers from Urbana, Illinois, and West Harlem
at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, October 10 & 13

What a Neighborhood! presents “Composing The World We Long To Live In,” an inspiring free concert of visionary music by composers from the School for Designing a Society in Urbana, Illinois, and members of the St Mary’s Gospel Choir, Wednesday October 13 at 7:30 pm at St Mary’s Episcopal Church, 521 West 126th Street, ½ block west of Amsterdam, near the #1 subway (125th Street stop) and the M104 bus (127th Street stop). A reception will follow. For more information, please call 212-222-2101.
The public is also warmly invited to take part in the creative process in a free open rehearsal at St Mary’s on Sunday October 10 from 1-3 pm.
The composers, Elizabeth Adams, Jacob Barton, Mark Enslin, Andrew Heathwaite, Susan Parenti, Lysander Puccio, and the St. Mary’s Gospel Choir, will all perform, along with the Orfeo Duo (Vita Wallace, violin, and Ishmael Wallace, piano), actor Keith McKinney, and the Hullabaloo Chorus.
What a Neighborhood! is a concert series founded in 2003 by the Orfeo Duo. It celebrates Morningside Heights and West Harlem primarily by showcasing the music of living local composers, developing grassroots support for their work and drawing neighbors together.
