What a Neighborhood! presents “Composing The World We Long To
Live In,” an inspiring free concert of visionary music by composers
from the School for Designing a Society in Urbana, Illinois, and
members of the St Mary’s Gospel Choir, Wednesday October 13 at 7:30
pm at St Mary’s Episcopal Church, 521 West 126th Street, ½ block
west of Amsterdam, near the #1 subway (125th Street stop) and the
M104 bus (127th Street stop). A reception will follow. For more

The public is also warmly invited to take part in the
creative process in a free open rehearsal at St Mary’s on Sunday
October 10 from 1-3 pm.
The composers, Elizabeth Adams, Jacob Barton, Mark Enslin,
Andrew Heathwaite, Susan Parenti, Lysander Puccio, and the St.
Mary’s Gospel Choir, will all perform, along with the Orfeo Duo
(Vita Wallace, violin, and Ishmael Wallace, piano), actor Keith
McKinney, and the Hullabaloo Chorus.
What a Neighborhood! is a concert series founded in 2003 by
the Orfeo Duo. It celebrates Morningside Heights and West Harlem
primarily by showcasing the music of living local composers,
developing grassroots support for their work and drawing neighbors
together.
