LARA: The LGBT Academy of Recording Arts, Producers of the OUTMusic Awards, announces its 2010 Membership Drive.

The only organizationof its kind, LARA supports the viabile establishment of successful recording careers of  "Out" Gay, Lesbian. Bi, And Trans Musicians, and ensembles primarily representing the LGBT Community.  "Straight Allies" are alsy welcomed to be Associate Members of OutMusic.

LARA also has an OutMusic Award Category called "Best Humanitarian Songwriter of the Year" which may be given to an individual or Group who does not idenitfy as Gay, Lesbian, Bi or Trans, but supports the LGBT Community.

 

LGBT Choirs and Choirs with strong LGBT Contingencies are strongly encouraged to join OutMusic and LARA Particularly in this year!

For the first time in the history of the OutMusic Awards, there will be the presentation of an award for Best Classical Music Performance. Choirs who are members of LARA are able to submit to be nominated for this award.

 

This will also mark the start of a new initiative by LARA and OutMusic to increase the presence and support of "Out" Classical Musicians and ensembles among its membeship.

 

The 20th Anniversary OutMusic awards, to be aired of LOGO TV,  will open with a Classical Music performance featuring Organist T. Desiree Hines with the Traverse Arts Chorale.  They are excited in reminding all musicians and people in attendance that Classical Music is the beginning of all Music.
