Virtuosic singers and period-instrument players perform Italian music of the early 1600s, including Frescobaldi canzonas, Castello sonatas, Monteverdi madrigals and works by Cima and Cesare. Renown early music specialists, The Monteverdi Soloists, are soprano Amanda Balestrieri; mezzo soprano Marjorie Bunday; tenor Daniel Hutchings; baritone Robert Gardner; Baroque violinist Mimi Mitchell from Amsterdam; James Miller from New York, cornetto; and Michael Holmes from Washington DC on sackbutt. The concert is prelude to Colorado's only scheduled performance of the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610 this same weekend in Denver and Boulder.
