Latin style winter pieces?

Hi all-
Doing a Latin-themed Winter Concert and looking for any Latin-style (including Ladino) pieces that "might" have a winter/reflection/holiday theme (not essential but might help if they did).  SA, TB/TBB, SSA, SATB.

Any top-of-the-pile stuff come to mind?

Thanks!

Hi, Christopher.  On this particular list, you might want to specify whether you mean Latin language pieces (a large majority of which will be sacred), or Latin-American pieces.  If you hadn't mentioned Ladino, I would automatically have assumed the former.

All the best,
John

Hi John-
I wondered about that, but then left it "open" as I am actually not opposed to Latin language pieces either, although the general "style" will be Latin as in Latin-American etc.  It's a way to incorporate it all.  :)  But thanks for the heads up.

The finest latin style chart I have ever heard is by Jason Olson, an amazing young writer.
Listen to it, it truly will be a yearly fav to do.
Sound Music Publications; www.smpjazz.com
Go to Catalog by Grouping then go to Styles and Latin. In the left hand corner of the site you will see ChartFinder, enter O Holy  and you are there. If you have a flugal/trumpeter here is a potential place to do feature. Your students will dig this latin chart. I have a full recording of the Seattle Jazz Singers performing this at their recent "Thought About You" CD.
Cheers,

Went to the site, even looked for Jason Olson's pieces, and it's not showing up.  ?

Christopher:
Please check one more time. You should now hear O Holy Night when you open up the site. process:
2. double click on Catalog by Grouping
3. The second page will come up. go to the second coloum where  ist says Stylies.
4. Click on Latin under the Styles catagory
5. In the top left box under Chartfinder enter O Holy.......
6. Get ready, O Holy Night should appear in the box. If you find the chart you will be able t click on the little arrow pointing to the North east... The song should come right up.
Let me know if you are still having problems.
Cheers
Frank

If you're looking for up-beat, energetic music that can feature some Latin American instruments, I highly recommend the Christmas arrangements of Vancouver composer Ed Henderson (www.edhendersonmusic.com).  Many are published (links on his site) and have been recorded by the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the Richmond Community Chorus.  Elektra Women's Choir has recorded two in their piano accompaniment versions which also work very well.
