"CONNECTING THROUGH MUSIC"
October 17, 2010 at 4PM St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Macomb, MI Cantata Academy Chorale joins special guests, the Dakota and Chippewa Valley High School Varsity Choirs, to present CONNECTING THROUGH MUSIC. This exciting concert kicks off our historic Fiftieth Season, and unites three accomplished choirs and the varied perspectives of our collective members. We are young and old, novice and experienced, secular and religious, and many cultures besides. For our new director, Susan Catanese, this concert also joins past and future as we welcome her to Cantata Academy Chorale, following a full and distinguished career at Chippewa Valley Schools. All these differences dissolve as we join in music that explores the complexity of human relationships. Choral music has a unique ability to express the most profound emotions, because we as singers weave not just notes, but text: poetry! Expressing our loves, hopes, and fears as one voice makes each of us more fully human, more alive, more attuned to each other.
Join us in celebration of the power of song as a spiritual force to express the range and universality of human experience, to lead and sustain us through uncertain times.
