Noel Edison to lead first Toronto Mendelssohn Choir Choral Conductors’ Symposium Jan 25-29 in Toronto

Location: Ontario, Canada
Choir type: Professional Choirs
Voicing: Mixed
The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir is launching a symposium where emerging and experienced choral conductors will work intensively with acclaimed conductor Noel Edison and two internationally recognized choirs to expand their choral conducting skills.  The four-day Toronto symposium will take place from January 25 through 29, 2011.  Participating conductors will not only refine their skills in workshops with Noel Edison, but will be given the rare opportunity to conduct the 150-voice Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the chamber-sized Elora Festival Singers.  Working with these two ensembles of experienced and skilled singers will present the conductors with the opportunity to experiment with their own conducting styles and musical interpretation.

Five conductors will be accepted into the program.  There will also be opportunities for others to participate as observers.  The deadline for registration is December 1, 2010.  Details and registration forms are available on the TMC website at http://www.tmchoir.org/education/ConductorsSymposium.cfm

To conclude the Symposium there will be a final presentation, open to the public, on Saturday, January 29 from 3:00-4:30 pm at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, Toronto.
