The Lutheran Youth Choir of North America, founded in 2005, is inaugurating a new international Festival of American and Global Vocal Music for high-school-age singers, July 27-August 9, 2011, co-sponsored by the ELCA's Wittenberg Center. American and German students will live for one week in a restored medieval castle near Wittenberg, Germany, operated by the German YMCA. At the castle they will rehearse sacred and secular American choral music for performance in area churches, and attend various music and cultural classes. In addition, there will be opportunity for community service, recreation, and sightseeing while in Germany. In the summer of 2012, the Festival will reconvene in the Chicago area. Students do not need to be Lutheran to participate. Generous financial aid and college scholarship available. Early discount registration deadline is December 31, 2010.
