Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater

The Corvallis, Oregon, Repertory Singers joined by members of the Arabic Ensemble Ala Nar will present the Pacific Northwest Premiere of the Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater on Sunday, January 23, 3:00PM at First United Methodist Church, 11th and Monroe Streets in Corvallis.
The 13th century Latin hymn is a universal expression of a mother's grief and is expertly crafted by Jenkins with laments in English, and in Aramic and Persian taken from poetic resources of the ancient Middle East.
Dr. Steven M. Zielke, Oregon State University Director of Choral Activities, directs the chorus, soloists, organ, and orchestra. The mezzo soloist is Megan Sand, and the Arabic singer is Leigh Ann Starcevich. Tina Dreisbach plays the Egyptian riqq and darbuca, and Christopher Pfeffer performs on the doumbek.
Tickets are $17 and available at local outlets as well as online at www.ticketsoregon.com. High school and college students will be admitted free.
