TORONTO– March 17, 2011-- Under the direction of Stephanie Martin, Pax Christi Chorale is one of Canada’s leading oratorio choirs, praised by our guest soloists, musicians and audience members alike for the choir’s sincere and passionate performances. In 2009, we welcomed the Pax Christi Youth Choir to our ‘family of choirs’, led by Lynn Janes. These exceptional young choristers have enriched our musical experience and that of our audience and we look forward to our second season together!

Join Pax Christi Chorale as it performs songs on the theme of peace, featuring Pax Christi Youth Choir, under the direction Lynn Janes. The Chorale welcomes its special guest conductor from Latvia, Ints Teterovskis and assistant conductor Matthew Otto, who will lead the choir in songs by Bach, Rheinberger, Handel, Mendelssohn, and Latvian composers ?riks Ešenvalds and ?dolfs ?bele. The Windermere String Quartet will accompany the choir and will also perform Haydn’s String Quartet No. 32, “The Bird”.
This concert will conclude with the launch of Pax Christi Chorale's new "Great Canadian Hymns" CD, featuring eleven all-new, all-Canadian compositions which were finalists or winners in Pax Christi Chorale's inaugural "Great Canadian Hymns" Competition of 2009. The CD will be paired with a book of scores of all of these hymns and will be available for sale after the concert and on the Pax Christi Chorale website (after April 17) for $20.
