OCDA Executive Board Meeting
First Christian Church, Edmond
March 26, 2011
1. Charla Dedmon called the meeting to order at 1:15pm. The following members were present:

Boyd Fees, Paula Kiner, Julie Hester, Brent Ballweg, Lisa Cullison
2. Minutes from the January 2011 board meeting were read and approved with a motion by Brent Ballweg, seconded by Julie Hester.
3. Committee Reports
Brent reminded board members to turn in articles for the website. Board members who have not joined the choral net need to do so asap.
Henry Leck has turned in repertoire list. TTBB piece will not be used as a first round audition piece, but the SSAA piece will. Second round will include the TTBB piece. Lisa proposed a mixer for Friday night of the festival from 8:00-10:00pm. Julie Clifford will accompany the mixed.
Repertoire list has been turned in by Nancy Cobb-Lippens. David Hillis will accompany this group.
Gary Eckert will be the clinician.

All is well in this region.

Lisa Cullison & Rebecca Lindley will be in charge of this region.
G. Repertoire & Standards Chairs
1. All-Collegiate Chorus - Kim Childs
The choir has 83 singers this year, with 10 universities participating. Doreen Rao is the clinician.
Next year’s dates will be March 30-31, 2012 at FBC OKC. Andre Thomas will hopefully be the clinician. Other possibilities are Craig Hella Johnson and Joseph Martin. Steven Kingsbury is stepping down from the conducting workshop, and Mary Susan Whaley will take over.
2. Children’s Chorus-Lisa Cullison
The festival will be on April 9 at OBU with clinician Julia Haley. 5 Choirs are participating with 200 students participating. Concert will be at 3:30pm.
3. Community Choirs -Doris Lambert (not present)
4. Church: John Yarrington is scheduled to do two sessions plus the church reading session for the summer convention. He will present ideas from his book “Haven’t We Had This Conversation Before.” Boyd will ask him to do the conductor’s chorus as well.
5. Jazz Choirs Tony Gonzales (not present)
6. Jr. High & Middle School Randa Mitchell (not present)
7. Two-Year College Choirs Mary Susan Whaley
Two junior colleges are participating in the All-Collegiate festival this year.
8. Women’s Choirs Julie Hester
Julie is planning to get an article to Brent for the website.
9. Youth & Student Activities Mark Lucas
10. High School Bill Perring
Bill will contact publishers regarding the recording of the All-OCDA music.
11. Show Choirs Becky Martin (not present)
Becky and Tony will present the show & jazz choir reading session this summer.

6. New Business
A. Darla Eshelman asked for suggestions for 2012 summer convention headliners. Suggestions given were: Jerry Blackstone, Tim Sharp, Brad Holmes, Tim Peters. Brent Ballweg suggested contact the regional or national R & S chairs for suggested clinicians.
B. A flyer with summer convention information and pre-registration will be mailed out soon.
C. James Mulholland has agreed to compose a commissioned piece for the 2012 All-OMEA Women’s Choir, which is paid for by OCDA.
D. Charla Dedmon will e-mail the board a rough draft of the summer convention schedule next week for everyone to proof read and provide feedback.
7. Meeting was adjourned at 3:15pm. Motion by Lisa Cullison, seconded by Rebecca Lindley.
