I am pleased to announce that the Thanet Festival Choir, The Seventy Choir of Thanet with the Festival Chamber Orchestra are mounting a performance of JS Bach's monumental St Matthew Passion on Saturday 16th April 2011 beginning at 7pm in Holy Trinity Church, Broadstairs, Kent, England.
The soloists are Clifford Lister (Evangelist), William Gaunt (Christus) with Kathryn Jenkin (Sop), Peter Oakley (Alto), David Knight (Ten) and Colin Campbell (Bass). The concert is conducted by Stuart McIntosh (who formerly worked in St Louis, Missouri).
This performance of the St Matthew Passion marks the first in the Kentish Isle of Thanet since the early 1960's and will be sung in German.
If you are interested in attending there still a few tickets available on the door priced at £12. It will be a memorable evening for all!
