If you’ve always wanted the opportunity to perform in an opera, here it is. This is an open invitation for all voice parts to join Taconic Opera’s chorus for the 2011 fall performances of Verdi's Nabucco! This will be a FULLY STAGED production with full union orchestra and sets/costumes, in Italian with English supertitles above the stage. All lead singers and orchestra members are experienced professionals. Performances will be at the Yorktown Stage in Yorktown, NY, on October 21-22 at 8:00 pm, and an October 23 matinee at 2:00 pm; and a reprisal performance at SUNY Purchase in conjunction with Harrison Friends of Opera on Oct. 29, 7:00pm. There is NO MEMBERSHIP FEE to join the company, but all singers will be required to supply their own scores and help put together their costumes.
Nabucco, one of Verdi’s most beloved operas, contains a treasure trove of choruses, including the famous Va pensiero(Chorus of Hebrew Slaves). Singers need not be frightened - this is easier to do than you might imagine, and it is an incredibly exciting, satisfying and FUN performance experience.
