The New York Virtuoso Singers, Harold Rosenbaum, Conductor and Artistic Director and The Society for Universal Sacred Music, Roger Davidson, President, will present The World of the Spirit on Sunday, May 22 - 3:00 PM at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, West End Avenue at 87th Street in Manhattan.
The all-professional choir will perform the World Premieres of Roger Davidson’s In My Father’s House and …with peace in mind by Nancy Wertsch, along with J.S. Bach’s Der geist hilft unser schwachheit auf, BWV 226 and Benjamin Britten’s The World of the Spirit.
This concert version of The World of the Spirit was prepared by Donald Mitchell for the Aldeburgh Festival for a 1998 performance in the Snape, Maltings Concert Hall. This concert was conceived to focus on the possibility that humanity can be united in common brotherhood and sisterhood – and in the reverence that can be experienced from the sounds in music and nature. Special guests will be narrator Declan Bennett (Star of Broadway's Rent) and organist James Adams.
