Summer CME workshop North Carolina, Elon University

Choral teachers and their students are invited to particiapte in the Choral Music Experience course held annually at Elon University, Elon, North Carolina(near Burlington) . 2011 course dates are July 11-15. Faculty includes Cheryl Dupont, Donna Thomasson and Sean Ivory. CME is a course that provides advanced study for choral teachers, focusing on effective and efficient rehearsal techniques, and conducting that communicates the musical score. Participation in Conducting Master Clsss is optional. Daily classes include Voice Education, Conducting Practicum, Score Study and Rehearsal Preparation, Rehearsal Observation, and Master Class. The course features a Young Artist Choir, made up this year of the High Point Children's Chorale and additional singers. Members of the Young Artist Choir have rehearsals and classes with the faculty, and serve as a lab choir for Master Class. Both teachers and students have Meet the Composer sessions with Sean Ivory. The course festures a music packet of various composers, including Caldwell & Ivory, and offers a variety of voicings, including Unison, SA, SSA and SATB.
