Our choir Vokaal Kabaal is a mixed choir with around 60 members, aged between 30 and 55 years old. With our own instrumental accompaniment/band (pianist, drums and guitars) we mostly sing in four part harmony. Now in our 22nd season, we enjoy an excellent reputation for our performances with pop, rock, rhythm and blues, Latin, close harmony, jazz, contemporary and modern music.

 

Where  we are

Situated in Castricum,  a lovely village near the beach, dunes and forest in the North of Holland, we give several performances throughout the year between the main cities of

Amsterdamand Alkmaar. Our region is known as the bulb area, where in Spring fields of tulips occupy our landscape.

 

Conductor

Rolien Eikelenboom , our female conductor, studied at the Sweelink Conservatorium (the music academy) in Amsterdam. As well as being a fulltime music teacher at our local high school, Rolien conducts the school choir, and is also choirmaster to the interdenominational choir Connection. Well known in the region for her energy, humour, compassion for people and passion for music, she leads Vokaal Kabaal in a demanding and fun way.

 

Previous  exchange                                                                                                                      

 Two years ago our choir exchanged with a men’s choir Monte Pizzo from Bologna, Italy. In May 2009 Monte Pizzo arrived in Castricum for a weekend filled with concerts, mutual

rehearsals and excursions. We arranged a co-concert together; a concert in Amsterdam and a concert on the beach. But also a fantastic party with great food and lots of singing in a casual atmosphere. In October 2009 we travelled by coach to meet them in Italy and they organized the same for us. A city walk through Bologna, three concerts, a mountain trip and again wonderful parties arranged by the Italians.
