ACDA Voices United (Fairfax, VA) -- AUG. 11-13

Location: Virginia, USA
Dear Fellow ACDA Members,

With the academic year coming to a close, we educators take some time to enjoy our summer and start to prepare for the coming year. While many summer plans have already been made, I encourage you to add the 13th Annual ACDA Voices United Conference to your calendar!! After a long summer, this conference in early August is the ideal way to get your mind back on track for the start of the school year. This year our headliners will be Tim Seelig, Charlene Archibeque & Henry Leck, who will be providing workshops on a wide range of topics, sure to inspire you for a successful start. The conference is August 11-13 at George Mason University.

Since this note is in your inbox, why not take this moment to register? Pre-registration, with reduced rates ends on July 1st. Plus our registration is now online. Visit www.acdavoicesunited.org to register right now!

In addition to registration, our website has even more information about the conference, its schedule, our honor choirs, and travel information. Again, its www.acdavoicesunited.org. But I would like to take this opportunity to highlight a few features of our conference:

- NEW FOR THIS YEAR!! - Conductor's Chorus
Of course the primary motivation for attending a conference is to continue to refine our craft as choral directors. While interest sessions, reading session rehearsal observations and performances certainly serve this purpose, we recognize that perhaps the best way to learn is to become a singer in a chorus once again. We also recognize that for many of us that direct choirs, we don't find enough time in our lives to sing in a chorus. New this year, we introduce the Conductor's Chorus, where you will be able to attend all sessions of the conference, yet also participate in a performance choir, directed by Charlene Archibeque. Four hours of rehearsal time have been scheduled in with Dr. Archibeque to prepare for a performance during the final Conference Concert. To enroll, simply check the box found on our online registration form.

-Masterclass with Dr. Charlene Archibeque
The Charlene Archibeque conducting master class will take place as part of the 2011 Voices United Summer Conference on Friday, August 12, 2011. Four to six participants will be selected to work directly with Dr. Archibeque and each will receive approximately 20 to 30 minutes of podium time. Our hope is to find conductors of all ages and experiences, from collegiate students to veterans. The application deadline has been extended until July 1st for this tremendous opportunity. If interested, please visit our website, and contact Emi Eiting at emi.eiting(a)gmail.com.

- NEW FOR THIS YEAR - Stay at the new George Mason Inn
In the past, out of town conference attendees have had to find hotel lodging off-campus in downtown Fairfax. This year however, attendees will have the option to stay at the brand new hotel and conference center located on the George Mason University campus. The conference center is a short walk from all conference events! No longer will you have to worry about driving, traffic and parking. A block of rooms has been reserved until July 11th for conference attendees. The room rate is $119 per night for Wednesday & Thursday night and $79 for Friday. To reserve, visit the following website: https://reservations.ihotelier.com/onescreenGroup.cfm?hotelID=73874. You will be asked to enter an Attendee Code which will be: VoicesUnited.

Again, additional information, registration and application forms can be found on our website, www.acdavoicesunited.org. Enjoy the summer months, and I look forward to seeing you at the 13th Annual Voices United Conference, August 11-13 at George Mason University!

Sincerely,
Daniel Abraham
