THE MOSES GEORGE HOGAN/GLENN EDWARD BURLEIGH CHORAL FESTIVAL, 2012

The Pittsburgh Gospel Choir, under the direction of Dr. Herbert V.R.P. Jones, will host the "Moses George Hogan/Glenn Edward Burleigh Choral Festival." To be held Friday & Saturday, April 20-21, 2011, in the City of Pittsburgh, this Festival will be comprised of middle school, high school, college & university, amateur and professional, community and church choirs; choral music enthusiasts, African-American Sacred Music scholars, and lovers of the music of the Late Moses G. Hogan and Glenn Edward Burleigh.
 
The Festival will open on Friday night, April 20, 2011, with a 7:00 P.M. concert featuring 'Essence of Joy', Dr. Anthony L. Leach, Director (Penn State Univ.), The Pittbsurgh Gospel Choir & The Pittsburgh Gospel Ensemble, Dr. Herbert V.R.P. Jones, Director.  Saturday, April 21, 2011, will have choral and orchestral rehearsals, an 11:00 A.M. panel discussion with panelists consisting of national and international choral music educators and performers.  Special guest panelist will be LaVonne Burleigh. There will be a 6:00 P.M. pre-concert panel discussion followed by a 7:00 P.M. concert that will feature the Festival Chorus & Orchestra, under the baton of Dr. Anthony L. Leach, Penn State Univ., guest conductor.
 
The venue for the 2-day Festival will be Community College of Allegheny County, Allegheny Campus - Auditorium,  Pittsburgh, PA.
