Tower Chorale Selects New Music Director

Choir type: Community Choirs
Voicing: Mixed
The Tower Chorale of Western Springs welcomes Mr. Patrick Godon as its Music
Director effective July 1, 2011. Mr. Godon has had many top level posts in music. Since
2003, he has been Director of Music at St. Gregory the Great Church in Chicago. In
2006, Mr. Godon founded the International Chamber Artists (ICA), a Chicago-based
chamber music ensemble of the area’s best classically trained musicians. He holds the
degree of Master of Music in Piano Performance from DePaul University. Mr. Godon is
in demand as a soloist and collaborative pianist. He frequently performs with the
Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) as second keyboardist and has done piano solo
work for them. He also performs with the CSO’s MusicNOW ensemble, the Ars Viva
Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and the Delaware Symphony
Orchestra. He has performed for three Dame Myra Hess concerts at the Chicago
Cultural Center, broadcast live on WFMT.

Mark Miner, Chairman of the Tower Chorale Board, said, “We are very much looking
forward to starting our 26th season under Patrick Godon’s direction and feel very
fortunate to have found such a wonderful musician to carry on for Jim Winfield, our
Founder and Director, who recently retired.” Janet Mensen Reynolds, a professional
opera singer with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and a frequent soloist with the Chorale
said, “I have performed with a LOT of different conductors in my 25 years as a
professional singer, but it is rare to come across someone with as much talent as
Patrick.”

The Tower Chorale is an 80-voice community chorus comprised of amateur and
professional singers, including former members of the Chicago Symphony Chorus and
various community theater and music organizations. Many church choirs are also
represented. Known for musical diversity, this non-profit organization has been one of
the premier music groups in Chicago's western suburbs since 1986.
