Seeking Host Churches for Beatitude Mass Performances Sacramento, CaliforniaDate: August 17, 2011 Views: 2854 Location: California, USA Choir type: Choirs with Religious Affiliation Voicing: Mixed
The Stone Church Choir of Willow Glen California is seeking a host church/venue for an outreach tour to the Sacramento area during the weekend of November 4th and 5th, 2011, to offer performances of the Beatitude Mass for the Homeless by California composer Henry Mollicone. The Mass is a beautiful, moving, 35 minute work for chorus and orchestra with text of the Beatitudes interspersed with interview text from homeless individuals. Performances of this extraordinary work across the country have raised over $100,000 for charities serving the homeless. Stone Church singers have been involved with the work since its composition in 2006, and we are presenting the Mass in San Jose on October 29th, 2011. Our hope is to continue to bring this powerful work out to other communities. We would invite our host choirs to sing on the first half of the program if they wish to, and the Mass would be the concluding work. A free will donation is usually collected, and our hosts can designate the charity of their choice for donations received. Our choir numbers 50 singers, and there are 7 instrumentalists. The composer will be conducting. If you would like more information, or would be able to offer your church as a venue for us in November or at a future date, please contact Nancy Wait Kromm at nkromm@aol.com or by phone 408 834-0473.
