2011-2012 CCD Season We are pleased to announce the 2011-2012 Community Chorus of Detroit season. For our fall program, we will perform George Frideric Handel’s legendary Messiah with orchestra and soloists. Performances will be held at our beautiful new home, Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church, on Friday, December 16 at 7:30 pm, and on Saturday, December 17, at 4:00 pm. Our spring season is entitled A Detroit Panorama: Music of a Great American City. This unique, collaborative program will be a celebration of the history, present, and future of Detroit through great choral music. It will include an exciting variety of outstanding music that ranges from the jazz, French, and African-American choral traditions of Detroit to well-regarded choral music by Detroit-area composers; Eric Whitacre’s beloved Hebrew Love Songs will be featured. Dates/times remain TBA but will occur in May. If you are interested in joining us to perform these beautiful works, please visit our Prospective Members page. We look forward to a thrilling and beautiful concert season!
We welcome all members of the Metro Detroit community to join the CCD, aged 14 to adult. Although the chorus is non-auditioned, basic music reading is required, and many chorus members are experienced singers. Our singers represent 30+ zip codes from Detroit and its suburbs.
