Choral Premiere Competition
for Sing New York!
Sing New York! is an annual spring celebration sponsored by the New York Choral Consortium (NYCC), an organization composed of the more than 250 choral groups that call the five boroughs of New York City ‘home.’ NYCC, through Sing New York!, is proud to highlight the importance of ongoing choral composition by including a brand new work in its 500-voice ‘Big Sing,’ to take place on Monday, June 11, 2012. (See clips of the June 2011 Festival.)
The competition this year, as last, is open to composers who have already submitted works to PROJECT : ENCORE™ of Schola Cantorum on Hudson, and been approved. Project Encore is creating a new paradigm for recognizing new, already premiered choral works through its blind submission and vetting process. For more information on Project Encore, click here.
In order to submit a work for the 2012 NYCC Festival competition, a composer must have at least one score that has been accepted for the Project Encore database of compositions by December 1, 2011. Composers not yet part of Project Encore still have until the October 15th quarterly deadline to become eligible by submitting a new, already premiered work. Click here for information regarding submission to Project Encore.
The submission parameters for the NYCC Sing New York! competition are available here.
