Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the nationally acclaimed summer arts day camp whose August 3 Gala featured Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" sung by student choruses and guest soloists (including Metropolitan Opera soprano Monica Yunus), announces Open Houses for 2012. Usdan Center, annually attended by 1600 children ages 6-18 from throughout the New York area, includes a full program of choral study and performance for younger and older students. Besides distinguished teachers, there are guest conductors from the Juilliard School, the Aspen Festival and other major organizations.
The first Open House, which gives interested families full information on the Center, as well as tours of its magnificent 200-acre woodland campus, will be Sunday October 23 from 11 AM to 2 PM. Usdan is located at 185 Colonial Springs Road in the Huntington area of Long Island, and students are transported there by air-conditioned buses. There will be several more Open Houses, listed on Usdan's newly designed web site, featuring video excerpts from concerts: www.usdan.com. For more information, call (212) 772-6060, or (631) 643-7900. Families who cannot attend the Open Houses may make appointments for other days.
