Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts (www.usdan.com) the nationally acclaimed summer arts day camp whose August Gala featured the performance of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" with soloists from the Metropolitan Opera and Broadway, announces an Open House on Sunday November 20. The New York area camp, annually attended by students ages 6-18 from throughout the Tri-State Area, transported by air-conditioned buses, features junior and senior choruses regularly performing in the on-site , 1000-seat McKinley Ampitheater. Concerts in recent years have featured the children's opera "Brundibar" and Ernest Bloch's rarely-performed "Sacred Service."
The Open House will give families an opportunity obtain information and tour Usdan Center's magnificent woodland setting. It is from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Center at 185 Colonial Springs Road, Wheatley Heights (Huntington), Long Island. Usdan Center has introduced the arts to more than 50,000 children, many on scholarship. No audition is needed for most courses. Families who cannot attend may make appointments for other days.
