DALE WARLAND, artistic director of the SPCO Chorale, is a celebrated American musician who has made an indelible impression on the landscape of contemporary choral music both nationally and internationally.
The SPCO Chorale was specially assembled by Dale Warland in honor of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra’s 50th anniversary. Since its inception, the Chorale has performed a number of works with the SPCO including Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ, MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross, Pärt’s Te Deum and Duruflé’s Requiem. Warland has been a frequent choral partner with the SPCO throughout the orchestra’s history, dating back to 1973 when the SPCO and the newly formed Dale Warland Singers performed Messiaen’s Cinq Rechants conducted by Warland at the Walker Art Museum in a program with Dennis Russell Davies. During its 32-year history, the Dale Warland Singers, recognized as one of the world's best a cappella choral ensembles, collaborated with the SPCO in more than 40 concerts.
