The Choral Art Society of New Jersey, Inc. in conjunction with St. Anne’s RC Church, announces its annual Messiah Sing which will take place on Friday, December 2, 2011, at 8:00 P.M. at St. Anne’s Church, 325 Second Avenue, Garwood, N.J. The parking lot for St. Anne's Church is accessible from North Avenue across from the 7-11. The Messiah will be accompanied on the newly renovated pipe organ by John Thomas, organist at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Newark.
James S. Little, Musical Director of the Society, will conduct the beloved Handel oratorio. Audience members are invited to bring scores and join in the singing of both choruses and solo sections or simply come to listen. .
The Messiah Sing has become a Westfield area tradition and is an ideal way to kick off the holiday season. Admission to the Messiah Sing is $10 at the door where scores may be borrowed for the evening.
Mr. Little is no stranger to the Messiah Community event having previously both accompanied and directed the performance. In addition to his duties as the Director of the Choral Art Society, he has been the organist and choirmaster of Calvary Episcopal Church, Summit, N.J. , since 1993, having previously held similar positions at Mountainside's Community Presbyterian Church. At Calvary Church, Mr. Little directs an adult choir, two youth choirs and the Calvary Concert Series.
