The Mayflower Community Chorus Presents: "Feel The Spirit!"

Location: California, USA
Choir type: Community Choirs
Voicing: Mixed
12/9 & 12/10 @ 8pm at the Marin Center Showcase Theater and 12/11 @ 3pm Church of Saint Raphael, CA.

Raise your spirits for the holidays — and for life — with music drawn from or inspired by the African-American musical tradition. Let yourself be moved by the stirring, vibrant, poignant rhythms and harmonies from our full 45-voice chorus and smaller ensembles. Instead of “Silver Bells” this holiday season, enjoy “Peter, Go Ring Dem Bells!” The chorus will be wailing, syncopating and call-and-responding to heritage gospel, blues and jazz pieces, seasonal songs, and contemporary pieces. As always, we'll be expertly directed by Maestro Daniel Canosa and enhanced by keyboard master/Assistant Director David Manley. There will be additional instrumentation including drumming, electric guitar, and more.

We'll be singing traditional spirituals such as: "Deep River," gospel songs such as "Come On Down" and "Great, Great Joy," and jazz such as "Kyrie" from "A Little Jazz Mass." Pop songs include "Seasons of Love" from the musical "Rent," "Cool Yule" by Steve Allen, and a special adaptation of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." We'll also be singing the beautiful "Candle in the Night" to honor the Jewish holiday Hanukkah. As is our tradition, we will feature an audience sing-a-long before the start of our 2nd Act. The following songs will be provided in your show program for easy reference: Go Tell It On The Mountain, Jingle Bells, Silent Night, and Peace, Peace.

We are excited to announce that all our performances of "Feel The Spirit" will feature guest soloist, Jujuana ShaRon Williams.

Come on down and "feel the spirit" at one (or more!) of our performances. We look forward to singing for you! Happy Holidays! ♥
