The chamber choir Cantoría Hong Kong will present its 2012 Cathedral Concert at St. John's Cathedral on Hong Kong Island at 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 19. The Cantoría will perform an eclectic blend of ancient choral classics and contemporary works, including Medieval Chant, Mozart, the Buxtehude Magnificat, Samuel Barber's Reincarnations, and contemporary works from Venezuela and China. The Cantoría Hong Kong was established in 2009 to present a rich blend of advanced chamber choir repertoire to the Hong Kong community. The group performed its first feature concert at St. John's Cathedral in April 2010 before traveling to the Czech Republic in June to participate in the 2010 Festival of Songs Olomouc, where it was awarded a Gold Medal in the category for chamber choirs. It hosted its first Chamber Choir Showcase at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall in April 2011 with guest conductor Chen Yun Hung of the Taipei Chamber Singers. In June 2011, it performed feature concerts in Beijing and a joint concert with the Peiyang Chorus in Tianjin. It will present its second Chamber Choir Showcase at City Hall on 28 April, 2012.
