Hello friends -

The Luther College Nordic Choir will perform Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 235 East 7th Street, Blue Earth, MN.  

The Nordic Choir, founded in 1946, enjoys national and international acclaim as a premier collegiate choral ensemble in the United States. The 2012 Nordic Choir tour will include a cappella works "Holy, Radiant Light" by Alexander Gretchaninov, and "Love Is the Key" by Zebulon Highben (recent winner of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians' 2011 Raabe Prize). Other composers featured on the program will be Bach, Lauridsen, and Nelhybel, as well as hymn-arrangements and spirituals.

This concert is the opening of the Nordic Choir's tour to Colorado. The choir tours annually and has performed around the world, appearing in Norway, England, Germany, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Baltic countries, Mexico and the Caribbean. Nordic Choir has also appeared throughout the United States, performing in well-known concert halls as Lincoln Center in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Allen Hightower, director of choral activities and professor of music at Luther, is the conductor of the Nordic Choir preceded by Craig Arnold and the 57-year tenure of Weston Noble.

The performance by the 68-member Nordic Choir is open to the public. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at Trinity Lutheran in Blue Earth (507-526-3463), at www.luthertickets.com or by calling 1-800-4-LUTHER.
