Choralnet crashes FirefoxDate: February 2, 2012 Views: 3002
Consistently over the past few months, I have noticed that
Firefox crashes when I have a Choralnet tab open. (The
problem is definitely linked to this website, as it jumps to that
tab and announces that a certain script has stopped running
properly.) I'm running the latest version of Firefox on
Windows Vista; no other website seems to have this
effect.
Does anyone else have this problem, and are the website
administrators aware of it? Unfortunately, I was unable to
grab the specific error message the last time it happened, but if
that would be helpful I can try to do so next time.
Thanks!

Yes, I have seen this happen when leaving a Firebox tab containing ChoralNet (among many other tabs--usually around 25-30) open, but not displayed overnight. I come back to the PC in the morning, and I've got this error displayed:
Sometimes, it does behave as if it has "crashed Firefox," but most of the time, I can manage to close the tab containing ChoralNet between the repeated appearances of the error popup. I'm guessing that it has to do with the frequent refreshing of the "Who's online?" box. I don't know if this happens when ChoralNet is the only tab open, or when it is the one I have open/active all night, because I don't think I've tried that.

Allen Simon (ChoralNet's Webmaster) is working on this issue.

Yes, similar for me. Generally does not crash FF; just slows it way down and slows the closing of the error message way down (up to a minute to close message dialog).
