Swedish for Guangzhou
Many choirs will be singing in November in Guangzhou, China. One of the choirs participating in the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships comes from Sweden:Pro Musica Chamber Choir from Gothenburg.
The choir has been travelling around the world several times already – 30 international concert tours in all, among others to Japan (1989), Cuba (1995), South Africa (1999) and Brazil (2004) – this year they have chosen the city of Guangzhou as concert tour destination. According to people from and around Pro Musica, music is a chance and an instrument to enrich human life and to make it more valuable. Due to this official statement the choir earned public appreciation in both Swedish radio (“Veckans Künstler” in P2) and Swedish television (“Veckans Konsert” in SVT 2). Long-lasting direction of Jan Yngwe ensures special concert moments, which have also been retained in the past, for example at various competitions and concerts, and Mozart’s “Requiem” has even been recorded for a Swedish film production.
Those who are going to stay in Sweden this year in May have the chance to listen to the choir at the University of Gothenburg with the premiere of “Oceana”, a piece by the Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijovs; or, of course, in November at the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships in Guangzhou that will be held from November 8 to 14, 2012. Registration is still open through April 15, 2012.
