Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus in Concert

Location: Minnesota, USA
Choir type: Children's and Youth Choirs
The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Julian Ackerley, will present a concert of a variety of choral styles on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.  The concert will take place at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7180 Hemlock Lane N., Maple Grove, Minnesota.  The program begins with classical repertoire exhibiting the vocal artistry associated with boy singers.  Dressed in traditional choir robes, the choristers will perform choral pieces of the masters representing numerous musical eras.

The robes are then shed for western regalia including cowboy hats, vests and boots for the choirs signature songs and ballads of the American Southwest.  Western tunes such as Tumblin’ Tumbleweeds and Riders In The Sky will be performed with other cowboy classics and will complement a demonstration from the fancy trick rodeo roping team.

After a brief intermission, the boys return with a fully staged and choreographed set entitled Music of the Night featuring the music of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.  Memorable selections will be performed from some of Webber’s mega musicals including Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cats, Evita, Whistle Down The Wind and The Phantom of the Opera.  The concert concludes with a stirring patriotic finale complete with the grand U.S. flag and the exuberant voices ringing God Bless America.  The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus program is family entertainment at its best.
