Summer Conference & Intergenerational Honor Choir

Dear ACDA-PA Members,

I am writing today to encourage you to register for two excellent events offered by your ACDA state chapter this summer: the 2012 Summer Conference and the Intergenerational Honor Choir, taking place July 28-31, 2012 at Penn State University in State College.

2012 Summer Conference: July 29-31, 2012
Headliners:
Dr. Tim Sharp, Executive Director, ACDA
Dr. Janet Galván, Ithaca College

With reduced registration rates, this year's summer conference will feature interest sessions on a range of topics, plenary sessions to include a Town Hall meeting with ACDA-PA President Chris Kiver and PMEA President Scott Sheehan, and even a return of the "Future Music Educators Day" for high school students on July 30. As always, there will be plenty of networking opportunities, and ACT 48 credit will be available. Read more about the 2012 Summer Conference here. If you would like to participate as a presenter, read more about submitting a proposal for an interest session here

Early bird registration begins APRIL 1, 2012 at www.acdapa.org

2012 Intergenerational Mixed Honor Choir: July 28-29, 2012
Conductor: Dr. Janet Galván
ACDA-PA is pleased to announce the 2012 Intergenerational Honor Choir! This honor choir is open to all adult singers as well as student singers in grade 9 through college. High school, college, church, and community singers and their directors are all encouraged to participate! This year’s honor choir is designed to provide opportunities for mentorship and integration between singers and their directors. Directors throughout Pennsylvania may select 4 singers to participate from their high school, collegiate, or community ensembles: 1 soprano, 1 alto, 1 tenor, and 1 bass per director. If you would like to bring additional singers, feel free! Registration for this event is $95.00 for all singers, which includes music, meals, snacks/water, performance CDs, conductor’s fee, accompanist’s fee, and facility fees. A discounted rate of $75.00 is being offered to high school singers who also register for and participate in the Future Music Educators Day on July 30, and to all other singers who also register for and participate in the rest of the ACDA-PA Summer Conference on July 29-July 31.

Forms are available here. For more information, contact Honor Choir chair Caitlin Henning at 814-898-6781, or caitlin@ypcerie.org.

I hope you will take advantage of these great opportunities offered this summer by your Pennsylvania chapter of ACDA!

Best wishes,

Jason Bishop, ACDA-PA President-Elect
