Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal
presented to Jon Washburn
The Vancouver Chamber Choir is pleased that its founder and Artistic Director Jon Washburn has received one of the highest honours in Canada for his lifetime contribution to the choral art. The Honourable Steven Point, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia will present the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal to him at a special ceremony today.
The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal was created to mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty's accession to the Throne. In addition to honouring the Queen for her service to the country, the medal also recognizes contributions and achievements made by Canadians.
Jon Washburn's full biography is available here.
The medal depicts a crowned image of the Queen on one side. The other side marks the 60th, or diamond, anniversary and is expressed by the central diamond shape composed of a pattern of diamonds, the two dates and maple leaves.
